2020 - Present: La Paz County School Superintendent
Teaching career began in Miami Arizona from 1980 – 1991 teaching 4 grade levels over those years.
1992 – 2007: Taught in Oracle, Az; Ely, Nevada; Salt Lake City, Utah; Parker, AZ. In 2007, began working in the newly formed La Paz County Education Service Agency as the ESA Director. The work centered around coaching, offering professional learning opportunities, and mentoring new teachers.
2012: 5 Service Centers were formed across the State of Arizona. West Central was comprised of Yavapai, Mohave, La Paz, and Yuma Counties. Arizona College and Career Readiness Standards changed the way students were taught. Dru provided the learning opportunities for transitioning to the new standards in English Language Arts through 2014.
2015 – 2020: Teaching continues to be a passion. Teaching introductory Education courses for Arizona Western Community College fulfilled a lifelong dream. Working in the Curriculum Department for Parker Unified School District provided another opportunity to work with teachers.
2020: Covid challenged teachers, students, and Parents in 2020. Teachers are leaving the profession.
2021-2023: Teachers have continued to leave in Rural areas. My focus is on providing Education for Staff to have a better understanding of their job as Business Managers."
